ISLE OF OAK

I made this collage/painting as an experiment in laser cutting wood panel to create depth in my work. In this piece, I painted a live oak from my childhood home. As a kid, me and my sister looked at the property surrounding the house as a portal to other worlds, and I wanted to communicate that through this piece.

I debated including this piece in Library, but once I considered how I made this based off my own identity and nostalgia, not to mention the medium choice, I decided to include it, for I would not be here where I am without experimenting in these early works.
